The concept works by linking strategic processes and controls with rules, regulations and best practices required by external and internal parties. The concept explains WHY employees need to work within the frameworks established, and also HOW their work interfaces with the enterprise's overall strategy.

The core benefit of using the concept is that it allows the eEnterprise to maintain control, thereby enabling it to obtain a continuous, accurate and dynamic overview of its ongoing situation – as opposed to a snapshot provided at a particular point in time by annual external and/or internal audit.
